注冊商標是指經政府有關部門核準注冊的商標。注冊商標享有使用某個品牌名稱和品牌標志的專用權，這個品牌名稱和品牌標志受到法律保護，其他任何企業都不得仿效使用。

商標注冊人享有商標的專用權，也有權許可他人使用商標以獲取報酬。各國對商標權的保護期限長短不一，但期滿之后，只要另外繳付費用，即可對商標予以續展，次數不限。商標保護是由法院或行政機關來實施的，在大多數制度中，法院和管理商標的行政機關都有權制止商標侵權行為。一般而言，法院的裁決具有最終效力。

B：You mean the procedure for trademark examination, don't you?

A：Yes.

B：It's an easy digging. You may contact the Trademark Bureau. They will send you standard forms for you to fill in.

A：That seems not difficult.

B：Yes. The Trademark Bureau gives priority to the person who applies first. It examines the application, issues preliminary approval and publishes the trademark. If there is no justifiable opposition to it, the registration is approved and a trademark registration certificate is issued.

A：There a time limit for trademark, right?

B：Of course. By law, the protection in our country is limited to 25 years. And the trademark right can be renewed.

A：That's good.

B：The trademark registration can be renewed continuously but the producer or registrant should apply for the registration renewal every 25 years.

A：That's fair. The producer or registrant has the right to enjoy the protection.

B：Besides, you must notice that trademark is limited by region.

A：That's to say, a trademark registered in China will not be legally protected in another county. Am I right?

B：Yes, unless the same trademark is also registered in this country.

an easy digging輕而易舉的事

dig的意思是“挖掘”、“尋找”或“發現”。an easy digging的字面意思是“容易發現或找出來的東西”，常比喻“做起來輕而易舉的事”或“很容易做到的事”。

B：About two months.

A：Is it possible to have a trade mark transferred?

B：Yes, but the transferee needs to make the application, too, and must also see to it that the quality of the product is up to scratch.

B：If so, you ought to lodge an appeal to the law firm. To make a counterfeit of somebody else's trademark is a violation of another's trademark patient. The counterfeit ought to compensate the loss suffered.

A：要從商標局獲得批準需要多長時間？

up to scratch合格的，良好的

up to scratch這個習慣用語和運動有關。在拳擊賽中，scratch指裁判在拳擊場中間劃的界線。根據以前的規則，如果一個拳擊手被擊倒在地，他必須在八秒內站起來、回到這條界線上并能繼續搏斗，否則就認輸。所以up to scratch意味著這個選手處于良好競技狀態。因此not up to scratch就是指“不合乎要求的，不合格的”。

其他與scratch有關的習語和俚語還有：start from scratch這個習慣用語的意思是“從零開始，白手起家”的意思。
