暴雨襲擊中國中部，造成至少8人死亡

At least eight people were killed, and eight others remain missing as heavy rain lashes Shiyan city, central China's Hubei Province on Tuesday, according to local authorities.

據當地政府消息，周二，暴雨襲擊湖北省十堰市，造成至少8人死亡，另有8人失蹤。

The rain hit Yunyang District at around 4:00 a.m., causing flash floods in a local village.

Twelve people have been rescued so far. Those whose houses collapsed were relocated to Lijiagou Primary School by the local government. The authorities also set up medical points to help those injured during the ordeal.

The rain has also cut off roads and power in parts of the city. Rescue efforts are in progress.

The local government issued a red alert for the rainstorm, the highest in China's four-color alert system, noting high risks in flash floods, geological hazards and river flooding.
