Mount St Helen in the Pacific Northwest was rippedapart.

Within minutes, over 100 billion cubic feet of themountain

Since the eruption, Mount St Helens has been fairly quiet.

But inside its vast crater, a giant cone of rock is growing.

The irony is that subduction volcanoes are so highly explosive and destructive because theyare so gassy,
